BMet campaign set to boost student positivity and wellbeing
The trio of BMet colleges are launching a health and wellbeing initiative, supporting students through the continued lockdown.
As part of the initiative, students will have the chance to get involved in a series of exciting challenges during May, specially designed to help instil positivity and wellness.
The month-long campaign aims to tackle the effects that social distancing can have on students – combining various health and fitness related activities, with supportive informative resources.
Weekly theme-focused activities will take place throughout the month of May and will be offered to students at James Watt College, Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College.
Students will be able to take part in a feel good and staying connected week, a wellbeing quiz, free live house-work fitness classes, a virtual bake off, an NHS Camp-Out and multiple Tik-Tok challenges.
There will be a friendly competitive edge, as students can choose to opt into a live leader board to win various prizes as the month unfolds – to be announced weekly during the campaign.
Commenting on the wellbeing campaign, Patrick Geary, Vice Principal, at James Watt College said: “We have been doing a lot with our students to support them during covid-19. However, as we approach nearly two months of life under lockdown, we wanted to introduce something new to continue to keep spirits high.
“Students are continuing to experience a truly unfamiliar and unexpected situation, where they are having to try to adjust to a completely new way of living. We are committed to supporting them as much as we can.
“In addition to our enrichment programme, our counselling and mentoring services have been available to students from the outset – we want our students to flourish inside and outside of the virtual class room.”
