Travel & Tourism Extended Certificate Level 2

This course is designed to give you a good understanding of a variety of careers within the Travel and Tourism industry and will give you a range of skills and knowledge required for employment.

You will participate in both theory and practical sessions. You will learn about different aspects of the Travel and Tourism industry both in the UK and abroad.

Skills and knowledge are developed through a variety of assessment methods including case studies, reports, role plays, presentations, written assessments, external examinations and discussions.

You will spend the majority of your time in the classroom completing activities to prepare you for your assessments however you will also be required to participate in educational visits which are part of the course.

Previous trips have included Vietnam, New York, Birmingham International Airport, Hilton Hotel, Madame Tussauds and the London Dungeons.

Units offered include the development of UK tourism, international holiday destinations and factors affecting travel and tourism worldwide.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You will need 4 GCSEs (Or equivalent) at grade 3 or above including English or maths. A positive school or college reference demonstrating good levels of attendance and punctuality will also be required.

The programme is assessed through coursework and 2 exams.  You will complete practical projects, presentations, reports and a portfolio. Some sections will be completed individually and some in a group to help you develop team working skills. The portfolio will be internally and externally moderated.

On completion of the Extended Certificate Level 2  you will have the opportunity to progress onto either our Level 3 Travel and Tourism programme or our Level 3 Aviation Operations programme. Alternatively you can enter employment.
