Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Award/Certificate Level 3

The course will address key issues within education, including safeguarding, assessment for learning and understanding schools as organisations. The course has mandatory units which you are required to study and you can they select optional units which support you in your current role, or help you to develop new skills for career progression.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal enter qualifications. You will need, however, to demonstrate at least one year experience working within a school environment, supporting learning. This could be in an employed or voluntary position for at least 10 hours per week. The level 3 Specialist Diploma is a qualification that supports people who are working within roles such as – 1-1 support in a specialist area, for example, bilingual, leading intervention, a peer mentor or lead teaching assistant. You will need to demonstrate that the role you are under taking in school is specialist. If you do not hold your maths and English at GCSE grade C or an equivalent you are encouraged to undertake these qualification.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assigned to an assessor and they will come and observe you in the school placement. The observations and assignments will build up a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your skills and knowledge within your role.

Progression

Level 3 candidates can progress to a Foundation Degree in Learning Support.
