Music (Production) Higher National Diploma

This course aims to equip you with the skills and creative ideologies required to establish a career in professional sound recording and sonic design.

This course helps you to discover how to use sound in a creative, artistic context, the course centres on creating recordings and performances. The course links up with live industry partners as well as other creative disciplines like broadcast media, graphic design, gaming, fashion and fine art. Throughout the course, you will work with our record label Forerunner Records, to create high-quality experimental pieces that push the boundaries of technology and creative thinking. You will also experience a variety of learning methods, including video conferencing, interactive online sessions and a timetable that centres on collaboration and professional development.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS UCAS Tariff Points: Pre-2017 Entry - 120 points, Post-2017 Entry - 48 points The tariff points can be made up of: A Levels (GCE and VCE): 2 A Levels at Grade D BTEC Extended Diploma: Grade PPP BTEC Diploma: Grade MP BTEC 90 Credit Diploma: Grade MM Access to HE: Grade P45 If the Level 3 qualification is made up of A Levels, one A Level must be Music or Music Technology. All other Level 3 qualifications must be a music subject. Delivery and Assessment

This course will be assessed through coursework, assignments and projects.

Progression

This course will give you the skills to work in a professional studio as a sound engineer or to become a freelance sonic designer. You will be able to progress to degree-level music technology courses.
