Instructing Exercise & Fitness Diploma Level 2

This course will provide you with a professionally recognised qualification that you need to become a Gym Instructor. This is the essential qualification employers want to see if you want to enter the fitness industry. On this course you will complete anatomy and physiology modules that will be backed up with practical sessions. You will learn how to write exercise programmes and then how deliver these in a gym based environment.

Entry Requirements

You will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above. You should also have an enthusiasm for working in the leisure industry, be active and have good communication skills. You will be asked to complete a trade test at interview. A placement setting is required within a gym setting.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assessed through a mixture of practical and theorectical assessments, there will be a range of multiple choice anatomy papers to prepare you for an external examination and a final practical assessement. A portfolio of evidence will be gained.


You can progress to fitness qualifications such as exercise to music, circuit training and Level 3 Certificate/ Diploma in Personal Training or take up a career in the fitness industry as you would be professionally competent to work in a gym environment.
