Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship

An Infrastructure Technician provides support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non routine problems.
The Infrastructure Technician sets people up on systems and provides support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity.

The following vendor/ qualifications will be completed during the Apprenticeship programme:
– Networking and Architecture (9628-06)
– Mobile and Operating Systems (9628-07)
– Cloud Services (9628-08
– Coding and Logic (9628-09)
– Business Processes (9628-10).

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set the selection criteria however, for entry onto this apprenticeship, applicants must have 4 GCSE’s at grade C/4 and above including English and maths and either Science or Computing GCSE at grade C/4 or above. Of equal importance are skills like motivation and work ethic, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. Employers will set specifications depending on the role.

Delivery and Assessment

The duration of the apprenticeship is 18 months depending on the needs of the employer and the learner. Assessments include vendor and professional qualifications delivered through set study days and distance learning on a VLE platform. As part of the apprenticeship, there will be a number of specific skills that your employer or college tutor will monitor and observe to prove that you have reached a certain level of understanding. Delivery will be through a blended model of classroom delivery, distance learning and training and support in the workplace

Progression

After completing Level 3 you could consider progressing onto Level 4 Apprenticeship Framework – IT Software, Web and Telecoms Professional or the Level 4 HNC.
