MORE: LESS: Why BMET

There are no formal/fixed entry requirements for this course, and applicants may or may not have previously studied GCSE qualifications. Your suitability for the course will be discussed at interview, where we will consider individual educational background, experience, and any prior qualifications you may have. Applicants will also undertake brief Maths and English (mainly reading and writing) assessments during the application and interview process for this course. Successful applicants will simply be those who our experienced staff consider have a reasonable chance in securing Grade 4/C or above in each of the subjects taken, at the end of one year of study.

This is a full-time course, comprising of 3 hours of classroom teaching per week for each of the five GCSEs studied, plus 1 hour of Tutorial per week. In Tutorial, your dedicated tutor will work with you (as a group and individually) to help you develop the skills necessary to study effectively at Level 2/3 and beyond.  The majority of assessment will be by formal end of year examination, but some subjects will also have internally assessment coursework components.

This course is designed primarily to support onward progression on to our 1 Year Access to Higher Education courses in preparation for University entry (and so offers the opportunity for successful applicants to progress from ‘pre-GCSE’ to University in two years). Our Access to Higher Education courses are only available to 19+ Adult learners and designed to bridge the gap between GCSE and Degree level study, and are recognised by the vast majority of UK universities and degree courses. Other progression routes are also available however, including L3 Vocational Courses and Apprenticeships.
