ESOL (Adults): English for Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages (Matthew Boulton, James Watt, Erdington Skills Centre and Sutton Coldfield)

ESOL (Entry – Level 2) – when you come to enrol, you will be given an initial assessment to determine your level. The level of course you are offered will depend on the outcome of this.
This course is for people who are not native speakers of English. On this course, you will develop your skills in speaking & listening, reading and writing in order to improve your job opportunities and quality of life in the UK.
This course may be free if you meet the eligibility criteria. You will need to bring the following evidence to enrolment: nationality, residency in the UK and benefits.
This course is assessed by examination at different points in the year.

In June, Matthew Boulton College is running a summer school offering ESOL courses. You can now apply online for June start dates.

Delivery and Assessment

Depending on your level of study you will have a formal assessment which may be examination based.


You may be able to progress to a higher level programme.
