Employability Skills, Planning for Progression Award Level 1

This qualification provides a solid grounding in generic employability and personal development skills, which enables progression to employment and/or to further learning including qualifications such as: Functional Skills, Vocational Qualifications.

You can choose progression in 4 different areas;

Cleaning – This is a practical introduction into some expectations in the cleaning industry such as colour coded techniques and safe systems of work.
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate the correct hand washing technique and learn knowledge of COSHH, Colour Coding Systems and PPE usage.

Healthy Living – This qualification will help you to identify your own healthy choices in order to maintain a healthy life style. The aim of this unit is to help you to identify ways in which a healthy lifestyle can be achieved and encourage you to demonstrate activities which will improve your own lifestyle.

Finance – This will assist you in managing your own finances in creating a budget plan so you can review your expenses and identify areas for improvement or reducing expenditure.This will also give you knowledge of the different ways of receiving and making payments to manage you money effectively and identify instutation that can offer support.

Preparing for Work – This qualification will help you to recognise skills, qualities and behaviours needed for work and what employers are looking for. You will identify where to look for potential jobs and what information is required by employers so you are prepared and ready for work.

Entry Requirements

Motivation and willingness to learn. Applicants will need to be unemployed and self-declare they are in receipt of a state benefit in order to be assessed for full fee remission.

Delivery and Assessment

Assessment is carried out through workbooks completed online.


On the completion of one award unit, you can go onto one of the other Award Level 1.
