Business Administrator Apprenticeship

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Entry Requirements

Entry criteria varies depending on the Apprenticeship that you are studying and the needs of the employer, however applicants must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C/4 or above including maths and English upon entry to this programme. Of equal importance are skills like motivation and work ethic, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. Employers will set specifications depending on the role.

Delivery and Assessment

The duration of the apprenticeship is approximately 21months depending on the needs of the employer and the learner. This will be delivered in the workplace, supported by an interactive/digital workbook in preparation for the exam based elements of the qualification. The candidate will be assigned a learning coach/mentor with business administration experience who will guide them through creating their own professional portfolio of evidence during a series of one to one support visits.


The administration role may be a gateway to further career or training opportunities, such as management or senior support roles.
