Applied Science Level 2

If you have in interest in understanding the world around you and enjoy investigating problems then this is the course for you.
We offer different size qualifications, which will be discussed with your during your interview.

A range of units are studied to enable entry into BTEC Level 3 programme. We choose particular optional units to suit the interests and career intentions of students.
The chemistry units will help you gain skills used by laboratory technicians, the physics units will help you understand about the universe and how we use physics in everyday life and the biology units investigate the impact of human activity on the environment.

Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Double Science, English and Maths. If you have studied a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Science you should have achieved a pass.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assessed through practical work and assignments and an exam.


After this course you may choose to move onto the Level 3 in Applied Science. You may also choose to change to other areas of study like sport or health and social care. The underpinning knowledge, practical and vocational scientific skills learnt on the BTEC course will enhance and support the progression to a competency-based course.
