Apprenticeships

At BMet we offer over 30 different sector-based apprenticeships from Level 2 to University Level.

An apprenticeship is a great opportunity to start making your way into a new career or upskill within your current full-time job. Apprenticeships are specifically designed to support you in the workplace and are created alongside industry professionals to ensure you are learning the skills, knowledge and experience needed within industry. During an apprenticeship you’ll earn a real wage, learn job specific skills and gain an industry recognised qualification in your chosen subject area.

An apprenticeship is an alternative option to a full-time course. A full-time course will give you a broader understanding of industry routes and skills associated to those sectors. It really all boils down to you and how you learn, you get skills and qualifications regardless of whether you study within the college full-time or whether you study a work-based program like an apprenticeship.

Starting an apprenticeship is the first step in your career – but you don’t have to do it alone. From day one, we will work with you to agree a learning plan, visit you at work, and be there every step of the way to ensure you succeed.

You will also have access to a wide range of services such as our Learning Resource Centre, offering computer and internet access, as well as books, magazines and journals if you attend any classes onsite or live near any of our colleges. If you study completely in the workplace our Student Services and Welfare Team can also help you throughout your time as an apprentice. They can talk to you over the phone if you cannot visit the site and are trained to offer helpful advice and support services.

BMet also provide apprenticeships that are for employers to directly recruit candidates for themselves. Our programmes are developed in partnership with employers to provide sector-based training before progressing onto an interview. These apprenticeships include Gas Engineering Operative, Groundworker, HR Support and Team Leader / Supervisor, plus many more, our full list of employer lead apprenticeships can be viewed here.
