Fascinated by engineering, construction and machinery? Then come and visit the purpose built education centre at Caterpillar BCP in Leicestershire.
We offer half day learning experiences that are aimed at years 2 to 6 and 7 to 13 where we provide a unique insight into the workings of Caterpillar’s exciting production facility.
The CLIC’s objectives are to bring the industry alive for students, giving them first-hand experience of the manufacturing, engineering and business world. We offer opportunities for students to make connections between work completed in the classroom and real life business practices. We aim to work closely with schools to enhance delivery of the national curriculum to support the enterprise agenda and develop students' knowledge and understanding of the world of work.
Visitors get to:
- Learn how engineering and manufacturing is shaping our future
- Get up close to Caterpillar's iconic machines
- Undertake a production challenge
- Take a guided factory tour (age restrictions apply)
- Get involved in activities that will engage, stretch and inspire young minds
- Have a go! Test skills in manual dexterity, teamwork, mathematics, problem solving and more
Our workshops are designed to suit all age ranges, as we offer a selection of activities that are tailored to fit the target audience.
Factory Tour - as part of the tour experience you will be led around our factory floor by an experienced Guide with the opportunity to observe and learn about all aspects of the assembly line from start to finish.
Activities - take the form of teamwork, communication and problem solving exercises, as well as simulated production line challenges.
We offer two sessions a day; 9:30am – 12pm and 1pm – 3:30pm
Currently visits to this new facility are jointly funded by Caterpillar and Birmingham Metropolitan College for the rest of this academic year.
